Severe weather
Severe weather is very bad; it can be dangerous death traps. There are many types of severe storms: tornadoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and severe thunderstorms. Tornadoes are very dangerous because the can come out of nowhere and maybe the siren won’t go off. Tornadoes can kill you, and that’s why you need a NOAA weather radio. What’s the difference between a TORNADO WATCH and a TORNADO WARNING? A TORNADO WATCH is issued when the conditions can produce tornadoes. A TORNADO WARNING is issued when a tornado has been spotted or radar has seen rotation.
TORNADO SAFETY
• Go to a basement or in a closet.
• Put as many walls between you and the outside.
• Wait for an all clear before coming out.
That’s why Odebolt-Arthur Community School holds tornado drills and fire drills. We have these drills to help us get ready in case a fire or tornado breaks out and comes here. In case a tornado watch has been issued in an area near the school or in the county of the school, monitor emergency stations or NOAA weather stations. Bring all people inside buildings. Review tornado drills procedures and the location of a safe area. Review “drop and tuck” procedures with students. In case a tornado warning has been issued in an area near school or a tornado has been spotted near the school, shut off all gas, move staff and students to a safe area, and make sure the teachers take attendance to see if all the students are there. Remain in the safe area until the warning has expired or until an all-clear signal is issued.
In the event a fire, smoke from a fire, or a gas odor has been detected, pull the fire alarm. Follow the normal fire drill route. Some causes of fires include little kids with lighters, bad electric wiring, and gases.
Hurricanes are destructive because of heavy winds, hail, tornadoes and heavy rains. Thunderstorms have hail, bad winds, lightning and very loud thunder. Thunderstorms can knock the power out for a very long time. There are also snowstorms and icestorms. Icestorms make the roads very bad and really icy. They may also knock power lines down and snap tree limbs off the tree. If you are driving during these conditions, DRIVE SLOWLY, and watch out for downed trees and power lines. Snowstorms can be blizzards with lots of snow and heavy winds. If you go out during a blizzard, make sure you have a winter survival kit with you at all times. Have a red shirt on your car somewhere so police can see you.

Book Reviews
We are reviewing the trilogy of Uglies, Pretties, and Specials. All books are rated out of 5 stars.
Uglies- This book received 4 stars. It received four stars because it is hard to get into in the beginning. But once you do it is very good and keeps you wondering what will happen next. This book is set in the future where the communities make all their kids “ugly.” And when they turn sixteen, they have a surgery to make the kids “perfect.” Then the kids go live in a different part of town that no one but the “perfect” kids can go in. But when Tally turns sixteen the town officials make her find her friend Shay, who ran away before she got her surgery.
Pretties- This is the second book in the trilogy. It received four stars for the same reason as Uglies. In this book Tally and Shay have both gotten their surgery and are living with the other pretties. But as they live there longer they start to uncover many secrets about the town and the surgeries.
Specials- This book is the last one in the trilogy. It also received four stars for the same reasons as Uglies and Pretties. In this book Tally and Shay have received a different surgery and special abilities. The town officials call them and the others like them the Specials. Tally and Shay are the leaders of their own group of Specials called The Cutters.

Fishing Jokes
Safe to swim here?
While sports fishing off the Florida coast, a tourist capsized his boat. He could swim, but his fear of alligators kept him clinging to the overturned craft. Spotting and old beachcomber standing on the shore, the tourist shouted, "Are there any gators around here?!"
"Naw," the man hollered back, "they ain't been around for years!"
"Feeling safe, the tourist started swimming leisurely toward the shore.
About halfway there he asked the guy, "How'd you get rid of the gators?"
"We didn't do nothin'," the beachcomber said.
"The sharks got 'em."
Fish cost a fortune
Two Virginia rednecks go on a fishing trip. They rent all the equipment - the reels, the rods, the wading suits, the rowboat, the car, and even a cabin in the woods. I mean they spend a fortune!
The first day they go fishing, but they don't catch anything. The same thing happens on the second day, and on the third day. It goes on like this until finally, on the last day of their vacation, one of the men catches a fish.
As they're driving home, they're really depressed. One guy turns to the other and says, "Do you realize that this one lousy fish we caught cost us fifteen hundred bucks?"
The other guy says, "Wow! Then it's a good thing we didn't catch any more!"
I marked the spot
Two friends rented a boat and fished in a lake every day. One day they caught 30 fish. One guy said to his friend,
"Mark this spot so that we can come back here again tomorrow."
The next day, when they were driving to rent the boat, the same guy asked his friend, "Did you mark that spot?"
His friend replied, "Yeah, I put a big 'X' on the bottom of the boat."
The first guy said, "You stupid fool! What if we don't get that same boat today!?!?"
Did you see that?
Two guys are out hunting deer. The first guy says, "Did you see that?"
"No," the second guy says.
"Well, a bald eagle just flew overhead," the first guy says.
"Oh," says the second guy.
A couple of minutes later, the first guy says, "Did you see that?"
"See what?" the second guy asks.
"Are you blind? There was a big, black bear walking on that hill, over there."
"Oh."
A few minutes later the first guy says: "Did you see that?"
By now, the second guy is getting aggravated, so he says, "Yes, I did!"
And the first guy says: "Then why did you step in it?"
Catching many fish
A fisherman returned to shore with a giant marlin that was bigger and heavier than he was. On the way to the cleaning shed, he ran into a second fisherman who had a stringer with a dozen baby minnows. The second fisherman looked at the marlin, turned to the first fisherman and said, " Only caught one, eh?"
